Responsibilities

1. DISMANTLES devices and equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, forklifts, hand tools and power tools.

2. EXAMINES form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

3. ADJUSTS functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges.

4. REPAIRS or REPLACES defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.

5. ASSISTS in the training of new mechanics.

6. STARTS equipment and devices to test their performance.

7. LUBRICATES and CLEANS parts.

8. May SET-UP and OPERATE drill press, band saw, grinder and other metalworking tools in order to MAKE and REPAIR parts.

9. INITIATES Purchase Requisitions for parts and equipment.

10. At the completion of each task, ENSURES that housekeeping in the area is acceptable by removing parts, tools and scrap from the area and replacing guards and housing covers on equipment.

11. DEMONSTRATES the ability to complete the following basic electrical tasks.

12. PERFORMS other duties as assigned by supervision.

The essential functions of this role include:

wearing steel toe shoes

working in a non-temperature controlled environment

working up to 12 hrs of overtime per week

working weekends
