Job Description

At Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, we believe leadership happens at every level of the kitchen. As a Banquet Kitchen Supervisor , youll play a key role in supporting banquet food preparation and leading by example on the line. Youll assist in overseeing day-to-day operations, guide cooks through service, and help maintain high standards of quality, safety, and consistency. This role is ideal for a seasoned line cook ready to step into a leadership path.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the banquet line during prep and service to ensure smooth execution.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the team in the absence of sous chefs.
  • Ensure banquet food is prepared to specification and plated according to Omni standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and labeling in all banquet kitchen areas.
  • Help train and coach line cooks and stewards on techniques, prep standards, and safe food handling.
  • Assist in daily prep lists, station setup, and end-of-shift breakdowns.
  • Support inventory control and proper storage/rotation of banquet food items.
  • Communicate any issues or product needs to the sous chef or banquet chef.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience on the hot line or banquet team in a hotel or high-volume setting.
  • Strong understanding of culinary techniques, banquet prep timelines, and plating standards.
  • Ability to stay calm, focused, and supportive in high-pressure moments.
  • Effective communicator and team player.
  • Interest in growth and readiness to take on more responsibility over time.
  • Food Handlers Certification required (or must be obtained upon hire).Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Able to lift, push, or pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to navigate a fast-moving kitchen with hot surfaces, sharp tools, and tight spaces.
  • Clear vision and depth perception required for safe knife work and plating.
