About the Role:

OPEN: Full-Time- 7AM-2:30PM

The Housekeeper at Heritage House of Portage, plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position ensures that all assigned areas are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained according to established procedures and standards. The Housekeeper will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning tasks, including mopping floors, changing light bulbs, and following detailed cleaning protocols to uphold hygiene and safety. Working both independently and collaboratively with team members, the Housekeeper contributes to the overall comfort and satisfaction of those who use the facility. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to follow both verbal and written instructions accurately to support the smooth operation of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Basic proficiency in written and spoken English to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
• Experience with standard cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a professional environment.
• Physical capability to perform tasks such as mopping floors and changing light bulbs safely.
• Attention to detail and reliability in completing assigned duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous housekeeping experience in a public administration or healthcare setting.
• Training or certification in cleaning safety standards or infection control.
• Basic maintenance skills beyond changing light bulbs, such as minor repairs.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping floors, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces in assigned areas.
• Change light bulbs and replace other minor fixtures as needed to maintain proper lighting and safety standards.
• Follow detailed cleaning procedures and safety guidelines to ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Process applications and supplemental information related to housekeeping supplies and maintenance requests.
• Work independently to complete assigned tasks efficiently and collaborate with team members to support overall facility cleanliness.
• Adhere to verbal and written instructions from supervisors to meet daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to the appropriate personnel.
