JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Mechanic II will learn to troubleshoot, correctly define root cause, and implement corrective actions safely on a variety of machine systems. This is to include but not limited to: hydraulics, pneumatics, alternating and direct current, programmable logic controllers, robotics, discreet control systems, servo systems, pump systems safety circuits and complex process systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • As a Maintenance Mechanic II, you will acquire the knowledge to demonstrate proficiency in the following skills:
  • Perform simple to complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting repairs on a variety of precision equipment safely, following company, state and federal safety rules and regulations.
  • Learn basic machine operation for a variety of machinery to assist in troubleshooting without an operator.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, service, install/uninstall, move, and level a variety of production machinery/equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment using programmable controls.
  • Efficiently utilize Microsoft Office tools as well as accurately enter work data into the Maintenance Management System for reporting and trending data.
  • Accurately utilize all types of precision measuring and test equipment associated with the evaluation of function and repair to production machinery and facility equipment.
  • Operate various material moving equipment (i.e. forklifts, jib, gantry crane, scissor

lift)

  • Safely and effectively utilize various hand tools, machinist associated shop equipment and tooling.
  • Demonstrate ability to safely and efficiently follow procedures to execute preventive and predictive maintenance as required.
  • Demonstrate ownership to safety, quality, and productivity as it relates to daily

responsibilities.

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and in a team environment, assist other craft members and operations to ensure equipment is ready to meet production schedules.
  • Participate in Team activities for Human Resources, Problem Solving, 5S, Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing continuous projects.
  • Comply with Boral Safety Policies and Procedures

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with industrial machine tool maintenance including electrical/electronic, mechanical troubleshooting repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, equipment manuals, and company manuals and procedures
  • Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, drill press, and other related industrial repair equipment
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Good communication skills and ability to read, speak, write English (bilingual
  • Spanishhelpful)
  • Ability to observe, identify, deduce and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
  • Quick learner and ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Math skills and computer skills
  • Apprenticeship Skill Levels I-III to be defined in the employee Apprenticeship

Agreement.

  • Compensation to increase as Skill Levels are satisfactorily completed and proficiency demonstrated.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

The employee should have the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill ortrade
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field

The employee should possess the ability to:

  • Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
  • Prolong standing or in stationary position
  • Complete repetitive movements
  • Bend and/or twist
  • Climb stairs/ladders when necessary
  • Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work above or below floor level and in confined spaces
  • Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
  • Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in variousenvironmental conditions
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision, and hard hat protection)
