Maintenance Worker I: Grade 10: $20.95 - $28.26 DOE: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record. Must be at least 18 years old in order to operate equipment. Knowledge of equipment usage. Must be available to work weekdays, primarily daytime shifts, with some evening and weekend work as needed.

Maintenance Worker II: Grade 12: $23.05 - $32.34 DOE: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have three (3) years direct experience in a Recreation Maintenance position. Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record. Must be at least 18 years old in order to operate equipment. Knowledge of equipment usage. Must be available to work weekdays, primarily daytime shifts, with some evening and weekend work as needed.

Description:

Under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent and Recreation Supervisor, this position prepares and maintains sports facilities, fields, and public properties for recreation programs and community events. This includes responsibility for equipment operation and maintenance.

Due to the nature of this position, some evening and weekend work is required.

Duties:

Prepare fields and set up/take down equipment for soccer, baseball, softball, football, and other recreation programs. This includes dragging, chalking, and painting fields.

Light equipment operation (field drags, tractor, quad, mower, etc.) and upkeep of equipment.

Perform all pre/post season maintenance and special projects.

Conduct safety and related inspections and report any issues to the Recreation Supervisor.

Manage and inventory program equipment.

Assist in the development of program budgets and make recommendations for program improvements.

This position works with and supervises part-time employees to prepare and maintain sports fields.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.

Must be at least 18 years old in order to operate equipment.

Knowledge of equipment usage.

Must be available to work weekdays, primarily daytime shifts, with some evening and weekend work as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Ability to complete work within expected time frames.

Must be able to work independently and without immediate supervision.

Must be able to communicate effectively, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, and the public.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Basic understanding of baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, and soccer preferred.

Physical Demands:

Must be physically capable of performing moderately heavy physical labor including bending, stooping, standing, and lifting over 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather for extended periods of time.
