Job description
Located just steps away from breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty and other incredible sights! We are seeking a weekend barista/cashier to manage the FOH operations. This role requires a very detail oriented person who is super friendly with guests, have a love of fine foods and beverages and can handle periods of high volume as well as manage their time appropriately during slower moments.
Main tasks are making espresso and coffee & tea drinks and taking customer orders and other customer facing requirements like detailed menu knowledge, handling cash and cc transactions using a POS, bagging up/delivering food & beverages when ready. This is a very service oriented position so you must already have experience in this world and be able to demonstrate warmth, knowledge and skills from the outset. Someone familiar with Red Hook would be ideal as this is a unique neighborhood and we get lots of requests for things to do from day trippers.
Shifts for the summer are Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays - the wknd is a mandatory requirement - we can be flexible on the Monday (could switch it to Friday if that suits the candidate). We are a very small crew and there are very specific schedules arranged for each member so we cannot offer ongoing shift coverage at this time. Shifts are 7:30am-4:30pm.
We also encourage those with graphic, interior, floral or other design backgrounds (or other creative experience) to apply as we need these services as we expand and would love to be able to support someone who grows with us!
