Cook-Multiple Shifts

STGi is currently seeking a Cook to provide services at The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home.

The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home is located in Temple, TX. Our staff provides compassionate and specialized care to our nation's veterans. We focus on providing the best experience for residents and their families.

JOB SUMMARY: To support the effective operation of the community’s kitchen systems and to ensure the quality of the meals for the residents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner.

2. Prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance.

3. Follow oral and written directions.

4. Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets.

5. Attend in-service training programs for food service Team Members.

6. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.

7. Come to work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.

8. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

9. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents’ representatives, Community staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.

10. Adhere to break, meal and clock in/out procedures.

11. Food is prepared by following menu and recipes and will appear appetizing.

12. Prepare in advance to ensure food items are ready in a timely manner.

13. Date items prior to placing them in the refrigerator, freezer or storage

14. Document and/or ensure food, refrigerator and freezer maintain sanitizing temperatures

15. Document meal substitutions

16. Effectively oversee tasks of Dietary Aide/Dishwasher/Prep Cook
