Full-Time Groundskeeper

Full-Time Support Staff (Level 10)

Hourly Rate: $16.26

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position reports to Grounds Supervisor

Schedule: Monday-Friday (6:00am to 2:30pm)- 40 hours per week

  • This position requires a drug screening as a pre-employment condition.

Basic Purpose:

To create and maintain the appearance of college grounds and building exterior.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Winter: Snow removal, equipment maintenance, litter liners and upkeep; assists other departments as needed.
  • Spring: Planting, mulching, edging, mowing, and campus upkeep; assists other departments as needed.
  • Summer: Mowing, watering, weeding, plant care, trimming, campus upkeep, and equipment maintenance; assists other departments as needed.
  • Fall: Leaf removal, mowing, trimming, planting, campus upkeep and equipment maintenance; assists with maintaining college property (outside of real estate) and athletic fields
  • During down time, may be assigned to work withother divisions in Facilties Management for all hands-on-deck jobs, or to assist on larger tasks.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education/Training/Work Experience:

  • High school diploma, GED, or 1-2 years of work related experience required
  • Valid PA Driver's License required

Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must be physically capable of performing all duties on job description
  • Must work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Proficient knowledge of and ability to operate tractors, mowers, dump trucks, and snow removal equipment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Acquire and maintain PA Pesticide License Category 23 throughout employment

Additional Information Required:

  • Ability to read, write, and follow routine instructions
  • Ability to work within a team oriented setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have a good sense of balance; required to work at various heights.
  • Moderate physical strength is required.
  • Common outdoor allergies should not inhibit job performance.
