Cleaner (Evenings)

Duties: Putnam Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates the vacancy for a Full-Time Cleaner (Evening Shift). Under supervision, performs manual work involving cleaning, moving, groundskeeping, and minor maintenance. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to:Clean and prepare school buildings to ensure a neat and tidy appearance for daily operations;Sweep, mop, vacuum floors; clean lavatories and kitchens and replenish supplies;Empty trash receptacles, dust, change light bulbs, etc.;May involve moving furniture and boxes;Assist with snow shoveling and campus cleanup during inclement weather;Assist with special projects when school is not in session (painting, floor waxing, washing windows, replace ceiling tiles, etc.);Assist in the set up and break down of large events;Involves heavy lifting and working outdoors.Qualifications: Preferred familiarity with building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to use building cleaning supplies and equipment. Requires ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instruction; a willingness to perform manual tasks; thoroughness; dependability; honesty; and physical condition commensurate with demands of position.
