Job Summary
Monitor the Senior Center and assist with customer service functions. Must be available to work weekends, mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings. Position is for approximately 20 hours per week. The hours are subject to change as necessary to accommodate the workflow and at the supervisor’s discretion.

No budgetary responsibilities.
Essential Job Functions
- MONITORS participants using the Senior Center facilities.
- ASSISTS with all phases of customer service duties at front counter, such as checking participants into the Center, selling annual passes, answering telephones, etc.
- ASSISTS with registration for classes.
- ASSIST patrons with the use of fitness equipment in the absence of Fitness Center
Coordinators.
- ASSISTS Programmer and Building Maintenance Worker in preparing the facility for various activities as needed.
- ARRIVES at work on time and WORKS assigned schedule.
- PERFORMS all other related duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Ability to work as a positive team member and in accordance with the city’s Code of Ideals.
2. Skills in public relations for promoting recreational activities at the Senior Center.
3. Knowledge of a variety of recreation activities.
4. Ability to work and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with City personnel and the public, at times under emotional, stressful conditions.
5. Ability to maintain discipline.
6. Ability to assist the public promptly and professionally.
7. Computer experience preferred.
8. Lifting or moving items up to 20 lbs.
9. The ability to sit, stand and/or walk for up to 5 hours per shift.
Minimum Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements
Customer service experience required. High school diploma or equivalent and previous community recreation or related experience preferred. CPR and AED certified, or able to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
