Position Dishwasher Description
Position Title: Dishwasher
Reports To: Sous Chef; Executive Sous Chef; Executive Chef
Department: Food & Beverage
Employment Dates: Temporary; Dates Range Between mid-May and mid-October
Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, the Dishwasher is a non-exempt seasonal position responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen. Performs all work in accordance with essential functions and responsibilities as described below and in the spirit of the Club's mission and vision.
Responsibilities:
Duties shall include but not be limited to:
- Sorts and rinses dirty china, dishes, glass, tableware, pots, pans, trays, and cooking utensils using dish machine and/or hand washing as determined by supervisor.
- Sorts and stacks clean dishes, stocking or storing them in designated areas.
- Monitors detergent levels, water temperatures and cleanliness of dish machines, prep sinks, pot sinks and hand sinks. Replaces water, detergents and rinse aids in dish machine as needed. Notifies Chef if temperature falls below safety standards.
- Keeps floors, mats, and walls in all kitchen areas clean.
- Requisitions cleaning and washing supplies and notifies supervisor of expected shortages in a timely manner.
- Assist with receiving and storing products.
- Remove trash and garbage to dumpster.
- Ensures kitchen sanitation standards are met in designated areas and assists in maintaining cleanliness in kitchen and food storage areas.
- Observes all health and safety practices and all general Club safety protocols.
- Participates in required trainings and meetings.
- Performs other tasks and duties as required.
Qualifications :
- Work cooperatively with others in a team environment
- Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of commercial kitchen dish washing equipment
- Knowledge of correct washing temperatures and procedures
Experience/Education:
- Prior professional kitchen experience preferred
Work Environment; Physical Demands:
- Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by club environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10F) and outdoors (+90F), for one hour or more.
- Position requires walking and standing for long periods of time. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuverer between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with supervisors and co-workers.
- Must be able to lift up and transport up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch occasionally.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- May also experience exposure to the following: carbon monoxide fumes from equipment, grease and hot oils, sharp implements, hot surfaces, and slippery floors.
Projected Work Schedule:
The Dishwasher position may either be part-time or full-time depending on business levels. Full-time schedules must be available to work a minimum six day work week that may exceed that of 40 hours per week. Weekend and evening hours required. Any request or anticipated absence from the agreed schedule requires prior approval from the Sous Chef and Executive Chef.
