Highly organized and compassionate Surgical and Medical Receptionist with extensive experience in front-desk operations within fast-paced clinical environments. Skilled in managing patient appointments, coordinating with surgical teams, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring seamless communication between patients and healthcare professionals. Job Requirements:
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (mandatory)
Postsecondary certification in medical office administration, medical receptionist training, or healthcare-related field (preferred)
Knowledge of medical terminology (often required)
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in medical office software (e.g., EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Oscar, etc.)
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Appointment scheduling software
Billing and coding basics (often an asset)
Healthcare Knowledge:
Understanding of medical and surgical procedures
Familiarity with insurance forms, patient referrals, and OHIP (in Ontario) or relevant local health systems
Knowledge of privacy and patient confidentiality regulations (HIPAA or PHIPA in Ontario)
Interpersonal & Administrative Skills:
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work in high-pressure environments like surgical clinics or hospitals
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Attention to detail and accuracy in handling patient records and data
Experience:
12 years of experience in a medical or surgical office setting (often preferred)
Experience handling high volumes of calls, patient check-ins, and appointment coordination
Other Requirements:
Police record check (especially in hospital or pediatric settings)
CPR or First Aid certification (occasionally required)
Ability to work flexible hours (especially for surgical clinics or hospitals)
