Student Health Customer Service Associate

Responsible for prompt and accurate customer relations in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent communications with customers. Manage the resolution of patient concerns both financial and clinical. Collaborate between departments of Nebraska Medicine, University of Nebraska, the student insurance plan, and the patient while building strong relationships to promote customer loyalty and adhering to organizational mission, vision, and values. Responsible for answering incoming calls and face to face student / patient contact in a professional manner. Enter computer notes to assist with account resolution, identify patient financial needs and facilitate the initial financial assistance application process. Assist the patient as needed to complete all necessary requirements to enable the patient to meet their financial obligation to the organization. Monitor work queues and assist with completion of tasks. Responsible for pick up and distribution of paper records for imaging into electronic health record. Process reports and incoming mail in support of health information management (HIM) operational workflows.

Required Qualifications: Student Health Customer Service Associate

High school education or equivalent required.
Minimum of two years healthcare and/or insurance/third party reimbursement experience required.
Ability to work in a proactive self-directed manner required.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully interact with a variety of internal and external customers at all levels required.
Analytical and financial assessment abilities to maintain close attention to a variety of details in order to perform duties effectively required.

Multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
Strong communication and organizational skills with an aptitude for detail-oriented work required.
Must be able to work various hours including occasional Saturdays required.

Preferred Qualifications: Student Health Customer Service Associate
Associate's degree in business, healthcare or related field preferred.
Experience in healthcare collections, registration, customer service or insurance preferred.
Experience in healthcare revenue cycle functions to include insurance or registration preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel preferred.
