Position Summary

We are seeking a Field Service Repair Technician to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center. This skilled, hands-on role involves performing various technical tasks to troubleshoot and repair turbines and generators at customer sites. Responsibilities include setting up, adjusting, and operating complex equipment to diagnose issues and determine necessary repairs or component replacements. The work requires knowledge of turbine repairs and generator servicing. The FS Repair Technician will test components and equipment to ensure they meet customer and Toshiba specifications, using a wide range of precision measuring instruments and gauging devices. Following standardized procedures is essential to ensure efficiency, quality, and maximum value, achieving the highest possible standards.

Essential Duties

Work on generators and diaphragm repairs, blading repairs, and field machining on turbines.

Be proficient in using a wide variety of hand and power tools, including specialized torque equipment.

Set up and operate a portable milling machine.

Properly use welding machines as required.

Responsible for removing and installing stator bars/coils, installing side packing, removing and installing stator slot wedging systems, wet taping, dry and wet tying of all sorts, removing and installing hardware, monitoring the curing of resins, ite setup, and removing and installing stator laminations.

Complete all required paperwork such as test data, daily logs, job information, time sheets, and final reports.

Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations at customer facilities.

Help inventory all supplies and equipment, leaving the job site when the project is finished.

May be assigned other tasks where similar or lesser skills are required or where activities are monitored-usually of short duration to meet field service requirements.

Demonstrate a mindset for customer service and courtesy.

Work in a team environment or independently as required.

Education and Required Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.

5 years of direct experience working with generators and/or turbines.

Cooperative work crew skills, as work is performed at field locations.

Proficient in basic arithmetic operations, including decimals and fractions, and able to use formulas, blueprints, specifications, and tables.

Skilled in using various precision measuring instruments. Familiarity with hand tools.

Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical functions, with the ability to perform basic machining.

Knowledgeable in Asbestos abatement and lead awareness training.

Capable of operating overhead cranes and fork trucks.

Possess a valid driver's license for travel to customer sites.

Must be able to pass requirements to gain unescorted access to a nuclear facility.

Must be able to work without restriction throughout U.S, Canada, and Mexico.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
