Job purpose & summary: Performs routine cleaning duties in order to maintain County buildings in clean, safe and sanitary conditions; typically second shift.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and clinical areas, replenishes paper towels and tissue.
- Uses equipment necessary for the cleaning and maintenance of floors and carpets.
- Dusts chairs, tables, file cabinets, shelves and other furniture; cleans venetian blinds and equipment as necessary.
- Washes windows, wood work and mirrors.
- Gathers and disposes of trash, recycles waste.
- Any other duties as may be assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid drivers license.
- Understands and effectively carries out oral and written instructions.
- Acceptable physical condition.
- One or more years cleaning experience preferred.
- Subject to indoor environmental conditions. Protected from weather conditions, but often with heat or air conditioning turned off for the evening.
- Exposed to fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation and infectious diseases.
- Frequently required to wear personal protective equipment such as rubber gloves.
- Required to stand for long periods, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, crouching, kneeling, grasping, reach with hands and arms, pushing and pulling to drag mops, brooms or vacuums in a repetitive motion of arms.
- Must be able to communicate work progress and emergencies to co-workers.
- Required to have visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
- Works well with and communicates politely and effectively with others in the Department, as well as general public.
