The Sanctuary Golf Club, a prestigious member owned private golf club located on Sanibel Island, FL is accepting resumes for a dynamic and outgoing full-time Food and Beverage Manager . The Sanctuary Golf Club is a five-star rated Platinum Level Club and has been awarded over 25 different accolades from around the world!

Working closely with the Food & Beverage Director and Event & Catering Manager, this individual is responsible for ensuring Members and their Guests receive the highest level of service in the dining areas from the initial reservation to the completion of service through a hands-on and collaborative approach.

SCHEDULE: FULL TIME, YEAR-ROUND, flexible hours are required. Must work days, nights, weekends and holidays. Peak season October - May with full a la carte, plus heavy banquet volume; During the summer months (June - September) dining remains open with limited service and special events.

Requirements
  • Supervises and mentors staff through training and coaching to motivate, foster growth, build confidence, and drive performance within the team, leading by example.
  • Oversees the the Front Desk (Concierge) and handles tasks in the absence of the Member Concierge.
  • Works closely with Concierge to ensure all Member requests and reservations are handled efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Serves as opening and/or closing manager and/or Manager on Duty (MOD); manages opening/closing procedures with staff; ensures that opening and closing cleaning tasks are assigned.
  • Greets and seats guests upon arrival; suggests and describes available appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages and wines to Members and Guests.
  • Coordinates food service between kitchen and service and any special requests, including dietary needs with the Executive Chef.
  • Inspects dining areas to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness and safety.
  • Performs serving and bartending tasks when needed (e.g., when needed in-season and consistently during off-season months).
  • Assists with staff scheduling, manages/approves electronic time cards and processes payroll-related reports and data.
  • Conducts pre-service employee briefings (line-up meetings) and ensures staff are properly uniformed.
  • Sets the example for following the Club's established rules, regulations and policies.
  • Listens to, addresses and resolves Member complaints quickly, appropriately and positively.
  • Brings staff employee relations issues to the Director of F&B and works with Director and HR to implement disciplinary procedures, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the management.

Education, Experience, Skills and Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years serving/supervisory experience in fine dining required; Country Club experience is preferred.
  • Full-time, flexible hours are required (must be able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Ability to think clearly and remain calm in all circumstances, making sound and logical decisions quickly and exercising good judgment; knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
  • Adept at delegating multiple tasks, and with the ability to spot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Must be dependable, adaptable, organized, show initiative and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
  • A person of exceptional character motivated, energetic and friendly, and ready to make a commitment of loyal service to the Clubs management, Staff and Members.
  • A strong team player who enjoys a hands-on approach, the ability to work with a variety of skill levels and diverse workforce to foster an atmosphere of cooperation and accomplishment.
  • Maintains a professional appearance, demeanor and attitude at all times, even under pressure.
  • An innovative leader with a growth mindset who leads by example and is courteous, respectful and accountable.
  • Food Safety and Alcoholic Beverage certifications.
  • Proficient in computer skills including POS systems (Club Essential, a plus), Outlook, Word and Excel).

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods throughout shifts and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
  • Push, pull, lift, move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to endure abundant physical movements in carrying out job duties for extended periods.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position
  • Work in a hot, humid and noisy environment.
