Job Functions:
The Seasonal Event Coordinator helps build the pipeline of donors and volunteers to Metropolitan Ministries through event support. Primary responsibilities include supporting the Sr. Event Coordinator and the full Events Team with details and logistics for donor fundraising, community/development, and resident or other client program VIP/Media-facing events, activities, and holidays. Primary duties include administrative and hands-on preparation tasks.
Essential Responsibilities:
- DONOR FUNDRAISING AND COMMUNITY/DEVELOPMENT EVENTS & ACTIVITIES: Assist and support with events, activities, and holidays in support of fundraising and community engagement initiatives as directed. Requires professionalism, comfort, and understanding of in-person event details and logistics and is expected to work collaboratively with event coordinator(s), event intern(s), and volunteer(s) in support of fundraising and community/development event responsibilities.
- PROGRAM (VIP/MEDIA-FACING) EVENTS, ACTIVITIES, & HOLIDAYS: Assist and support with VIP/media-facing events, activities, and holidays in support of residential and other client program areas as directed. Requires professionalism, comfort, and understanding of in-person event details and logistics and is expected to work collaboratively with event coordinator(s), event intern(s), and volunteer(s) in support of program (VIP/media-facing) event responsibilities.
- RELATIONSHIP SUPPORT, OTHER DUTIES: Assists and support event team with staff, vendor, and volunteer relationships with research, documentation, and communication tasks related to resident and other donor fundraising, community/development, and client program (VIP/media-facing) events, activities, and holidays. Requires professional conduct and comfort with navigating computer, software, and internet; is expected to work closely and collaboratively with event coordinator(s)/intern(s) and lead volunteer(s) assigned to event, activity, and holiday execution. Support providing exemplary event, activity, and holiday experiences on behalf of Metropolitan Ministries. Supports the team in other tasks as assigned as well as holiday center operations as directed.

- INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE: General understanding of event management and nonprofit fundraising Participates in regular Cross-functional team, Event team, Supervision, and All Staff meetings.
Education and Experience:
Friendly, hospitality service, or event support experience preferred. Minimum high school diploma and at least 1 year of successful event support experience or hospitality management or relevant field. Attention to detail is required for Essential Responsibilities outlined.
Skills Requirements:
Excellent written communication skills. Excellent oral skills, including phone presence. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to plan and organize work and handle job-related matters in a professional manner. Critical thinker, problem-solving and good time management skills are necessary. Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Demonstrated proficiency with event support tracking software preferred. Computer and office equipment literate. Knowledge of web-based research tools and Microsoft Office is required. Must be able to work independently and as a team player.
Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals. Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills, and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Knowledge of community resources available to homeless population. Must demonstrate maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity. Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. Ability to walk and climb stairs and to lift 20 lbs. Physically able to work in outdoor/temporary shelter environment considering the local climate and its normal fluctuations. Physical, emotional, and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.
Other:
Must pass applicable pre-employment screening and demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, and particularly, but not limited to holiday months (October-December).
