Under direct supervision, performs variety of routine and semi-routine receptionist, office, clerical, and patient-attending duties.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Greets patient in courteous and business-like manner.
- Interviews patients and/or their representatives and obtains demographic and insurance information. Obtain authorization information, perform admission notification update insurance information, etc.
- Track patients in waiting area, ensuring that patients are checked in the order received (except for urgent situations). Coordinate check-in flow with registrars.
- Obtains and records pertinent billing information on all accounts.
- Ascertains patient needs; directs to appropriate areas of patient care.
- Receives and screens patient telephone calls; ascertains needs, obtains and records appropriate information; directs call accordingly; answers routine questions with limited non-confidential information; refers problem calls and/or complaints to appropriate personnel.
- Assists with emergency codes or situations
- Maintains adequate levels of all registration process supplies and forms; requisitions supplies as needed.
- Gathers, analyzes, compiles, and records data and information for routine, special and statistical reports or studies.
- Operates standard office equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service.
- Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned.n.
- Minimum six months experience as a receptionist or in a related field (e.g. clerical experience).
- High school diploma; or equivalent combination of education (lesser) & experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.

- Type 40 wpm or Type 35 wpm and obtain passing score on Windows navigation test.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, customer service, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving,teamwork, and written communication.Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, database, and spreadsheet PC applications.
- Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone.
- Reading, writing, speaking, understanding English.
