POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Dining Services Manager, the Custodian is principally responsible for the maintenance of cleaning and sanitizing the food establishment. The Custodian also must do some record keeping.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembling small items as needed.
- Sweeping and scrubbing all floors with machine.
- Spot check restroom for cleanliness and refill supplies as needed.
- Help wipe tables in dining room and restock napkins as needed.
- Wash towels, smocks, and aprons daily.
- Keep soap dispensers filled.
- Clean garbage cans inside and out weekly.
- Keep Presidents dining room clean, dusting daily, wipe windowsills weekly, and vacuum as needed.
- Arrange tables and chairs for special events in Lone Star room.
- Clean Lone Star Room after events, arrange tables and place chairs at table.
- Clean gray section of walls in kitchen hallway weekly.
- Clean stainless-steel food carts weekly.
- Keep laundry room clean, swept, mopped, and organized.
- Move tables from space and sweep in dining room and deli weekly.
- Wipe booths, steam clean if needed, clean out trays in dining room and deli weekly.
- Clean under bar in dining room and deli weekly.
- Clean drink spouts in dining room and deli twice per weekly.
- Clean underneath and behind drink machine station weekly.
- Help clean dining room as needed.
- Empty and rinse ice cream machine every Sunday night.
- Help clean spills on floors as needed placing wet floor sign down first.
- Monitor paper towel dispenser at hand sink and restock as needed.
- Clean hand sinks daily.
- Clean baseboard and windowsills in dining room and deli weekly.
- Clean glass doors in dining room and deli daily.
- Break down boxes and dispose them daily.
- Help with deliveries for banquets.
- Help fill ice machine as needed.
- Help change milk and soda dispensers as needed.
- Shampoo carpets in lone star room as needed.
- Provide list of chemicals needed.
- Help keep catering storage room organized.
- Keep delivery dock area clean.
- Work banquets as needed.
- Making sure food establishment (dining room) is sanitized.
- Wear clean uniforms and non-skid safety shoes.
- Attend related meetings and in-service training.
- Help maintain proper food handling and sanitation to avoid food borne illness.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) on a consistent basis and be able to demonstrate this ability before hire.
- Ability to use and climb a stepladder.
- Ability to use a ladder and hand truck.
- Ability to keep up with inventory for dining room.
- Some basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing of establishment.
- Must be willing to work as a team player and be willing to go beyond the call of duty.
- Must be reliable, dependable, and present an honest nature.
- Must have good customer and communication skills.
- Must have good organizational skills.
- Must have creative capabilities and have good time management skills.
- Ability to learn quickly from observations, and from oral and written directions.
- Ability to do light maintenance, repairs, and assembling items together.
- Must be able to lift, stoop, and reach at a constant pace.
- Must possess a Food Handler card or obtain within 30 days of hire.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.
- Must have a valid Texas Drivers' license and must be able to drive a college vehicle.
Preferred:
- Some record keeping experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Busy working environment with numerous interruptions
SALARY: $23,744. annually (This is a 12 month position to be paid over 12 months)
