STARTING PAY
$15.00
- Sweeps, dust mops, wet mops floors.
- Sweeps outside walkways.
- Cleans bird fecal off exhibit railings, benches and trash cans.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms
- Empties trash containers and disposes of trash.
- Cleans glass doors, windows, and display cases.
- Performs light grounds maintenance including mowing and weed whacking.
- Replaces light bulbs and cleans fixtures as needed.
- Performs snow removal on walkways.
- Recognizes safety hazards and concerns and takes appropriate action to correct.
- Safely mixes and handles various cleaning chemicals
- Responds to spills/cleanups throughout the Zoo, as needed and in a timely manner.
- Complies with all City policies and procedures
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Previous custodial experience is preferred. Reliable transportation is required. Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. New residents are required to obtain a Texas driver license from the Texas Department of Public Safety within 90 days of moving to the state. The City of Amarillo will consider all relevant education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to operate or use all types of cleaning supplies, mops, brooms, dust mops, and glass cleaning equipment, mower, weed whacker, and all other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties.
- Ability to operate and repair small to medium equipment and machinery used in performance of duties.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
- This position must be willing to work a Tuesday-Saturday 8:30am-5:30pm schedule.
- Must be available for occasional evening hours, work weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather as required.
- This position is considered weather essential personnel.
