Custodian

Job Summary: The custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in and around the facility. This includes routine cleaning and sanitization of restrooms, offices, hallways, and commons areas, as well as occasional minor maintenance tasks.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must submit to and pass a drug test pursuant to Company Drug-Free Workplace Policy which includes random testing

2. Must have good vision (may be corrected)

3. Must have no known hearing loss

4. Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time

5. Must be able to endure sunshine and weather extremes

6. Must be able to endure fumes that are within OSHA accepted standards

7. Must have stamina to work more than the scheduled workday when needed; including nights and weekends

8. Manual dexterity

9. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (<85 dba),="" however="" in="" some="" instances="" this="" job="" may="" require="" work="" in="" areas="" where="" ear="" protection="" is="">

Key Responsibilities:

• Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and polish floors.
• Clean and sanatize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and fixtures.
• Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces such as desks, windowsills, and furniture.
• Refill paper products, soap dispensers, and other supplies as needed.
• Clean interior windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Set-up and breakdown furniture for meetings and events.
• Report safety hazards, needed repairs, or equipment issues to supervisor.
• Follow all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
• Secure buildings when facilities are not in use.
• Respond to emergency clean-ups such as spills or accidents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or similar role is a plus.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage, and cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
• Physical stamina and mobility: able to lift 25-50 lbs., stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently.
• Basic computer skills.
