About this job:

Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen tools, dishes, utensils, and work areas at Emily's Cafe. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of the cafe and the Culinary Arts Program by ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. This role will be paid at the student minimum wage.

What You'll Do:

  • Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment by hand or using commercial dishwashing machines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, sinks, floors, and general kitchen areas.
  • Sort, stack, and store clean dishes and equipment in appropriate locations.
  • Dispose of trash and recycling according to cafe procedures and sanitation standards.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines set by the Health Department and Culinary Program.
  • Assist with basic kitchen prep or other duties as assigned by the Cafe Manager or Chef Instructor.
  • Ensure timely restocking of clean items to support smooth cafe operations.
  • Communicate any equipment issues or maintenance needs to the supervisor.

What You'll Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Emily Griffith Technical College with eligibility for Work Study employment.
  • Must be a current student at Emily Griffith Technical College (if Work Study).
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand, lift, and carry items up to 40 pounds.
  • Willingness to follow directions and work collaboratively with culinary staff and students.
  • Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation preferred (training will be provided).
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
