District Wide Day Custodian (2025-2026) - Maintenance

This position is for the 2025-2026 school year.

NOTICE OF POSSIBLE WAIVER: To expedite the hiring for this position, the hiring supervisor may apply for a waiver to prevent disruption of necessary instructional or support services.

BCPS is looking for a districtwide custodian to perform routine custodial activities as well as assist in overseeing special projects. This position will provide consistent and flexible support for school buildings experiencing temporary custodial shortages, as well as to assist with setup and preparation ahead of districtwide events. The focus will be to maintain the building and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition. We are looking for a positive, high energy individual who is motivated to keep the building and grounds in good order.

This position is 8 hours per day and 261 days per year. Contracted days will be adjusted depending upon start date. (Considered full time with benefits - see below)

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and provide a copy to HR upon

recommendation to hire.

Step 0: $17.13 Step 10: $20.85

New employees to the district may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified
experience. (NOTE: It will be the responsibility of the applicant hired to submit the BCPS
verification of experience form to their prior employer to complete and return to HR.) Although Classified positions are paid on an hourly rate, salary is set up on a year-long contract and divided by the number of remaining paychecks.
