ACCOUNTABILITY/RECORDKEEPING:

  • Greets, screens, enforces sign in policy, and directs or escorts visitors/clients to appropriate staff/office.
  • Receives, screens, and refers telephone calls to appropriate source for service in appropriate manner, taking messages when necessary.
  • Records and relays messages/memo information accurately, interrupting teachers in classrooms only for emergency calls.
  • Duplicates and distributes appropriate materials as directed.
  • In cases of problems or complaints refers person to Center Director or designee.
  • Keeps reception area neat, clean and orderly, this includes staff lounge and restroom.
  • Maintains adequate supply of all forms used by staff and visitors, replenishes as needed.
  • Performs other job related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintains sign in-out log for office staff.
  • Demonstrates control in difficult or unusual circumstances, practicing professionalism.
  • Limits personal affairs, telephone calls, etc. to emergency situations.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for special assignments by being prepared and available to execute responsibility.
  • Encourage parents/guardians to become involved in the education process for their children.
  • Takes an active role in recruitment of Head Start children and community resources and submits documentation to the Family/Health Services Coordinator.   • Have the ability to work with children and families from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

GENERAL:

  • I understand that Cheaha Regional Head Start/Early Head Start operates centers in Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Coosa, Calhoun, and Cleburne Counties and that it may be necessary for me to travel to any of these counties to perform my job as assigned.
  • I understand that I am primarily responsible for one specified location; however, there may be a time that I may be reassigned if the need arises in any of the above locations.
  • I also understand that my refusal to go as assigned will be considered as a resignation and or my being terminated from Cheaha Regional Head Start/ Early Head Start.
  • I understand and have received a copy of the Cheaha Regional Head Start/Early Head Start internal dispute policy and agree to follow it if needed.
  • I understand that I am responsible to participate in the recruitment of children with special needs and all eligible children without regards to race, creed, color, ethnicity and religion.
  • I understand that I am responsible for helping to obtain In-Kind to help meet Cheaha Regional Head Start/Early Head Start Non-Federal share of 20% of funding each program year.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Possess a High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in a related or specific area. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must agree to abide by TCR Policy and Procedures Manual. Must maintain confidentiality of all agency information, children and families, and staff. Must be physically able to lift (up to 50 lbs.) repeatedly, bend, stoop, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Understands that based upon the needs of the agency, he/she may be assigned to a classroom, kitchen, or any other component area temporarily.

Positions requiring the use of personal owned vehicle to perform job tasks; successful candidates must:

Be 21 years of age

Have a current valid state driver's license

Provide proof of current automobile liability insurance with a minimum bodily injury limit of $100,000 per person $300,000 per occurrence on personal owned vehicle if the employee is 21 years of age or older. Any employee less than 21 years of age will not be allowed to drive for the agency or required to obtain the specific insurance. *(If one or more than one personal vehicle is used, the information listed above must be obtained on each vehicle.)

Provide a current Motor Vehicle Report in order to be insurable by the programs non-owned insurance plan

Criminal History Suitability (ABI/FBI) must be returned from the state of Alabama Department of Human Resources

A drug screening producing a negative result

Child Abuse and Neglect Registry (CA/N) report

All job offers/work agreements are contingent on a clear report from the State Child Abuse/Neglect registry check, a suitability letter from the State/Federal criminal history background check, and negative results on drug/alcohol screening (pre-employment and random). All employees will be evaluated at least annually.
