Dining Room Assistant - Part time

The dining room assistant is assigned to a dining room serving residents. They provide all aspects of dining service to residents. The dining room assistant may take orders, plate food, check quality and temperature before serving the resident's selection. They perform routine cleaning, dining room set-up and assist in special functions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least on year of related dining room experience preferred.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the resident dining satisfaction.
  • Place food orders and deliver food and drink to residents in approved manner.
  • Clears courses and sets tables.
  • May wash and store plates and utensils using approved sanitation methods.
  • Performs cleaning of assigned dining areas.
  • May perform restocking and some food preparation in the kitchen.
  • May be required to properly handle cash and charge transactions.
  • Participate in set-up and breakdown of special function events.
  • Attend all mandatory in-service training sessions. .
  • Assist with the training and development of other servers as requested by management.
  • Assist in restocking and sanitation of wait stations and service areas used during service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of dining room procedures, presentation, service, bussing, customer relations and sanitation
  • Comfortable using personal computers and handheld devices. Must be able to use Microsoft Office
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Ability to speak, read and communicate using the English language.
  • Comfortable working with older adults.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, performing multiple tasks while maintaining the highest level of productivity and professionalism.

Physical Requirements and working Conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Extensive walking, pulling, pushing, carrying, bending, stooping and standing
  • Ability to, taste, smell and see with corrected vision.
  • Exposure to heat and cold in a food production environment.
  • Must be neat and clean at all times.
  • Universal worker, flexibility in scheduling, working some evenings, weekends, holidays and during inclement weather is required
  • Exposure to the sights, sounds, and odors of working in a typical healthcare environment including persons with dementia.
