Custodian - Part Time Police

Perform a full range of custodial duties related to the care, maintenance, and cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities for the Police Department

Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.

Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, strip and polish floors, vacuum carpets.

Dust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures and equipment.

Dust and clean blinds.

Wash windows, mirrors and walls.

Clean desks, tables and countertops.

Empty, clean and sanitize waste receptacles.

Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenish and maintain restroom supplies.

Move and arrange furniture and equipment.

Set up rooms for special meetings or events; monitor events to ensure equipment is adequate.

Perform minor repair work on property including furniture and equipment.

Replace lights, clean light fixtures, and adjust shades and blinds; identify and report need for ballast replacement.

Maintain custodial supplies and equipment.

May perform a variety of grounds maintenance tasks to include snow removal from sidewalks.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:

Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in custodial work.

Safe work practices.

The configuration of the assigned facilities.

Areas or equipment which may be dangerous to work near.

Ability to:

Wear all safety equipment.

Clean and care for assigned areas and equipment.

Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Operate and use equipment and tools necessary for performing work.

Operate computer terminal and applicable programs.

Work in both outdoor and indoor environmental conditions, confined spaces, and with moving mechanical parts.

Withstand exposure to heat/cold fumes, dust, noise, water, oil and grease.

Work at high elevations and from ladders/not afraid of heights.

Experience:

No experience is required. Previous custodial experience is preferred.

Training:

Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

License or Certification:

Employee must possess a valid driver's license and maintain insurability as determined by the City's insurance carrier. Click here to view our driver eligibility requirements.

Working Hours:

Hours worked will be between 5:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. (hours can be adjusted). Will work between 15-20 hours per week and will work rotating weekends.

Salary:

Position will start at the entry level of the City's salary table. Consideration may be given if experience exceeds entry level qualifications.
