Job DetailsCHOSEN is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to our fast-paced, high standard upscale take-out kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares menu items according to recipes and specifications to the highest quality
- Preparing and organizing orders efficiently to ensure timely service
- Arranging food on plates to enhance visual appeal and always meet CHOSEN presentation standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
- Follow health and safety guidelines for proper food handling procedure
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area
- Assist in maintaining order in the kitchen and food storage areas
- Ensuring sanitation procedures and organization of work area(s) and adhering to all OSHA regulations, federal and state laws, and internal policies to ensure work area is organized, cleaned, and sanitized properly before, during and after your shift
- Maintains clean and orderly refrigerators and work areas.
- Operates and cleans equipment per CHOSEN procedures after each use.
- Stores, labels and dates all food items according to CHOSEN standards.
- Practices sanitary and safe food handling at all times
- Maintain food and supply inventory and notify management of restocking requirements
- Putting away inventory
- Assist with the cleanup of the kitchen, cooking equipment, work surfaces, station tables as needed or requested
- Performs other duties as instructed
Qualifications:
- NY food handler certificate required
- Previous cooking experience preferred in a professional kitchen (casual / high-volume experience preferred)
- Knowledge of food prep, proper knife handling, temperature control, and sanitation is helpful
- Able to use slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, etc.
- Knowledge of culinary techniques and food preparation methods
- Strong understanding of food safety practices and regulations
- Experience in reading and following written recipes accurately
- Ability to work in varied temperatures (hot kitchen, cold storage)
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a calm and focused demeanor
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
- Mobility during the entire shift and physical stamina to stand for full shifts and more
- Great communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive, professional attitude

Compensation DetailsCompensation: Hourly ($16.50 - $19.00)
