ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Food Preparation and Serving:

  • Assist in food preparation for the serving line and ensure proper final preparation for serving.

  • Serve breakfast and lunch to students and adults.

  • Quality Control:

  • Inspect food daily for portion control, temperature, and appearance to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Supervision:

  • Supervise student helpers, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with food safety and service standards.

  • Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Perform clean-up duties, including washing pots, pans, dishes, and maintaining equipment and work areas.

  • Operate and maintain kitchen and cafeteria equipment efficiently and safely.

  • Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety standards.

  • Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Record meals served, track inventory (e.g., milk), and maintain accurate records.

  • Prepare and submit monthly reports as required.

  • Program Recommendations:

  • Provide suggestions to the Food Service Director and/or Superintendent regarding program improvements and needs for the Elementary School cafeteria.

  • Point of Sale Operations:

  • Assist in the operation of the Skyward Qmlativ Point of Sale system.

  • Collect and reconcile money and related reports while verifying that meals meet reimbursable criteria.

  • Policy and Procedure Compliance:

  • Comply with all District policies, operational procedures, and USDA guidelines.

  • Attendance and Punctuality:

  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality as required for effective program operation.

  • Training and Development:

  • Attend job-specific training sessions as required by the District and USDA guidelines to maintain skills and certifications.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Perform other duties related to the food service program as assigned by the Food Service Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Food Handler Certification:

  • Possess a current Food Handler's Card or obtain one within 30 days of employment.

  • Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Hygiene and Professionalism:

  • Demonstrate appropriate personal hygiene and maintain a professional demeanor.

  • Driver's License:

  • Hold a valid Washington State Driver's License.

  • Interpersonal and Work Skills:

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with both adults and children.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure, follow directions, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Background Clearance:

  • Successfully pass State and National background checks, including fingerprinting, and clear a criminal records check.

  • Confidentiality:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all school-related matters.

BENEFITS

Health Benefits - Positions anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a school calendar year are eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits. Benefits begin the first day of the month following the date of hire.

Retirement System - Anyone eligible to belong to the retirement system must pay into the retirement system. Deferred Compensation and Tax-Sheltered Annuities - These are available to all staff.

Annual/Vacation Leave - According to PSE negotiated vacation schedule, prorated for less than 260-day employees.

Sick Leave - One day per month is earned for full-time employment. Less than full-time earn leave on a pro-rata basis.

Holidays - Staff who are eligible for vacation are also eligible for paid holidays.

Employee Assistant Program - An Employee Assistance Program is available to all staff.
