Individuals in this classification can competently perform most of the duties assigned to their crew members. They must be able to demonstrate the proper use and care of all equipment and adhere to all safety and (PPE) personal protective equipment usage when using potential hazardous chemicals and cleaning up bodily fluids. This position coordinates and assigns the work for multiple job sites. Makes all the necessary decisions when organizing work by scoping out projects which include plan, organization of materials, equipment, and completion with appropriate efficiency. Individuals should coordinate with supervisors, subordinates, and contractors in the planning, implementation, and completion of projects. This role will conduct safety briefings and training sessions and have direct contact with the Operations Supervisor. May respond to customers and coordinate crew activities with other divisions and departments. In all instances City liability may be affected by improperly perform work. Under the direction of an operations supervisor, train, assign and review work of assigned custodial personnel. Duties and responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing buildings, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors, and the performance of minor equipment and facility repairs. Work is performed using potentially hazardous chemicals and/or equipment and requires moderate physical effort in manipulating equipment.

- Plan, organize, schedule and coordinate the cleaning and care of assigned city facilities, playfields, recreational, and other areas as assigned.
- Assist with selection, train, prioritize, assign, inspect and direct work of other Maintenance Worker-Janitorial and Maintenance Aide 2 staff for multiple job sites for a 7-day a week schedule. Inspect work of assigned staff to ensure proper completion. Assures level of service expectations are met on a constant basis.
- Organizing the picnic shelter and recreational areas for cleaning and maintaining infrastructure.
- Assigns and schedules maintenance of 10 shared trucks.
- Signs and scan timecards when Supervisor is away from the office.
- Responds to the Structural on-call request. Example checking alarms or addressing minor maintenance tasks.
- Orders all supplies, maintains storeroom and purchases handheld tools and motorized equipment. Diagnosis and trouble shoot repair of equipment.
- Organizes tools and supplies for probation community services to use.
- Writes purchase requisitions (PR) for contracted work, materials, and supplies.
- Logs, returns, donates lost and found items into Share Point.
- Determine the means, methods and materials for performing work.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms; dust mops, sweeps, polishes, and refinishes floors; vacuums carpets; floor scrubbers; removes trash; litter; cleans windows, walls, counters, and carpets.
- Cleans and sanitizes public areas containing blood-borne pathogen contamination.
- Properly disposes of blood borne pathogens and sharps.
- Keeps accurate records of pro-card purchases.
- Polishes and refinishes flooring.
- Lubricates pulleys, fans, and checks belts on cleaning equipment; performs minor repairs on non-warrantee cleaning equipment.
- Washes windows, strips and waxes floors, and shampoos carpets.
- Repairs doors, windows, roof leaks, and water pressure leaks; performs minor electrical and plumbing repairs.
- Sets up furniture and other equipment needed for meetings.
- Responds to special cleaning requests.
- Supervises and inspects work performed by contracted custodians.
- Assists in the training and evaluation of subordinate-Maintenance Worker Janitorial staff; orients new workers and processes all onboarding paperwork, I-9 documents, identification badge, gas card access, issues keys
- Assists staff with The Place goals & evaluation input, work assignment and general computer login.
- Inventories and orders equipment needed to perform custodial/maintenance tasks duties.
- Participates in the planning and implementation of custodial assignments, and workload plans.
- Cleans sensitive areas such as the police records and evidence rooms.
- Secures buildings and activates alarms at the end of each shift.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Knowledge in use and application of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and floor finishes and ability to follow instructions in their application and use.
- Some vocational training/technical training in building maintenance, custodial equipment and supplies, and boiler maintenance.
- Physical ability to operate equipment such as boom truck, backhoe, pressure washer, floor machine, carpet extractor, and perform general cleaning activities.
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a wide diversity of employees and customers.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
- Some vocational training/technical training in building maintenance, custodial equipment and supplies, and boiler maintenance.
- Five years, experience working on a crew and or leading a crew.
- Five years, experience working in Park Maintenance.
- Five years of experience working in Construction.
- Work experience is sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
