Title: Food Service Server - Floater
Location: District (all school buildings)
Terms: School Year: 5.0 hours per day, Monday - Friday
Hours: 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Compensation: $16.53 - $18.47/ hour (i n accordance with the Board of Education/HESPA Contract)
PRIMARY JOB GOAL: To provide excellent customer service and food quality while maintaining the highest standards for nutritional value, presentation and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists in main entree cooking, short-order production, sandwich and salad production, and all other food production related tasks
- Assists in customer mealtime service including serving customers, keeping the service line full, clean and organized, and presenting food in an appetizing manner
- Stock shelves, receives inventory and properly puts away orders in the correct storage areas
- Cashier duties (follows all cashier policies and cash handling procedures at all times)
- Properly stores and records leftover food and maintains production records recording how many meals are served
- Removes garbage, separates recyclables, and breaks down boxes
- Cleans and sanitizes all stations, equipment, floors and shelving
- Washes all dishes, containers, pans and utensils
- Carries out all other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or the Director of Nutrition Services
- Carries out all daily tasks in a manner that advances the HPS Nutritional Services Departments visions and goals for meal service, nutrition, and quality
- Follows all food safety rules and physical safety rules
- Follows approved housekeeping and safety practices to ensure that safe conditions are maintained in the kitchen, food-serving areas, and in dining area
- Follows the work/production schedule
- Takes part in training as requested by the Director or required by the state professional standards (4-6 hours annually)
- Treats fellow associates and customers with respect and kindness
- Serves students and staff in a friendly, helpful and accommodating manner; works cooperatively with other people
- Works in any area of the district and in any school kitchen, as assigned
- Reports to the immediate supervisor on completion of assigned duties before leaving for the day
- Maintains regular, consistent, and timely attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal and the Associate Superintendent of School Improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED and approved training in food service
- ServSafe Certification, preferred
- Ability to report to work when scheduled, on time, in full uniform with exceptional personal hygiene
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out, Be physically active for long periods without getting tired or out of breath, use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), use muscles for extended periods without getting tired, move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place, make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists, coordinate movement of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving, make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls, keep or regain the body's balance or stay upright when in an unstable position, and move arms and legs quickly. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
