Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities and Safety:
During Spring/Summer conditions, perform detailed maintenance on site grounds, lawns, beds, sports turf, and landscape areas. Cleaning and maintaining exterior buildings. Gutters, walls, signs, etc. Complete projects assigned by the Director of Facilities. Respond to work requests in a timely manner to correct deficiencies across the School District. Maintain all responsible equipment in a functional condition. Pay Schedule Grounds April 1 - September 30
During Winter/Fall conditions, provide custodial support to buildings. Cleaning and restocking for events, sports, and overflow workload. Included are: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning surfaces, restroom facilities, windows, refinishing floors, moving furniture, and doing event setup and tear down. Maintain all responsible equipment in a functional condition. Pay Schedule Custodian October 1 -March 31
Qualifications: Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial lawn equipment - mowers, blowers, trimmers, edgers, pressure washers, and painters
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance techniques - edging, pruning, trimming, weeding, mowing
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial cleaning equipment - autoscrubbers, high-speed floor machines, carpet cleaning machines
- Demonstrated understanding of Commercial cleaning practices - sweeping, mopping, the use of disinfectants, and other cleaning chemicals
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing via email or other text-based systems
- Understanding of safety protocol and disposal requirements associated with chemicals
- Understanding of the use and need for PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
- Understand the usage and location of SDS (Safety Data Sheets)
- Reliable Transportation
Qualifications: Preferred
- AA Degree, Trade School, or professional apprenticeship.
- Professional experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping
- Professional experience in the use of hand tools and power tools, and power equipment, including lifts, pneumatics, hydraulics, and all mechanical hand tools
- Professional experience with painting equipment and procedures, indoor and exterior applications
- Professional experience with automated Commercial irrigation system

- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs
- Ability to work above ground from ladders and automatic lifts
- Knowledge is required to read and comprehend a variety of manuals, write documents, and reports
Essential functions
- Perform day-to-day maintenance of site grounds - Cutting grass, weeding, and grooming landscape areas
- Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in a safe operating condition
- Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of gathering information to perform required functions
- Perform a wide variety of site maintenance activities (e.g., cleaning, painting, digging, etc.) within assigned time frames
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns
- Transports a variety of tools, equipment, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site
- Treat co-workers, students, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times
- Arranges furniture and equipment in preparation for special events
- Assists others with projects (e.g., transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe, efficient manner
- With limited training, be able to isolate natural gas, water, and electrical facilities at the schools
