Janitor (1st shift)**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a dedicated janitor to join our team in maintaining a clean and safe environment within a hospital setting. The role involves cleaning hospital rooms, primarily focusing on sanitizing rooms between patient discharges. The position requires extensive walking and physical activity, as well as the ability to follow cleaning protocols and utilize smartphone technology for daily assignments and tutorials.
**Responsibilities**
+ Clean and sanitize hospital rooms, focusing on patient discharge rooms.
+ Wipe down equipment, empty trash, sweep floors, and dust surfaces.
+ Clean spills, mop, and sanitize surfaces as needed.
+ Navigate multiple floors of the hospital, ensuring attention to detail.
+ Use issued iPhones to receive daily assignments and access cleaning tutorials.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in housekeeping or janitorial duties.
+ Ability to perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing.
+ Comfortable with extensive walking and being on feet for long periods.
+ Proficiency in using smartphone technology for work assignments.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Previous experience in healthcare janitorial work is preferred.
+ Experience in manufacturing or distribution with a willingness to transition to healthcare is considered.
+ GED or high school diploma is preferred.
+ Capability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.

The work environment is very fast-paced as the hospital is a #1 trauma center. Employees may encounter situations that could be jarring to an average individual. Patience is required as there may be a waiting period for obtaining a badge. Employees must demonstrate their ability to work under similar conditions. The position follows a rotating schedule, requiring work every other weekend and major holidays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
