Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds is hiring for a Maintenance Worker I position. Shift will be Wednesday - Sunday, 2:00PM to 11:00PM. Under general supervision of the Fairgrounds Manager, this position performs routine custodial and facility maintenance duties at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds.

Who We Are

Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds is the home of the legendary Last Chance Stampede and Fair and open spaces and facilities to host community and private events year-round. In November 2008 a new Exhibit Hall and Entry Hall opened for public use. In July 2009, the new grandstands and outdoor performance arena opened for the 49 th annual Last Chance Stampede and Fair. In 2021s Last Chance Stampede and Fair had record-breaking attendance with sold-out Friday and Saturday night PRCA rodeo performances.

    Requirements

    The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and one (1) year facility maintenance experience or equivalent.

    Summary

    Duties

    • Performs routine custodial and facility maintenance duties;
    • Provides event set up assistance and support;
    • Vacuums carpets, dust mops common areas, cleans spots as needed;
    • Wet mops restrooms and common areas;
    • Strips, waxes and buffs common areas and shampoos carpets;
    • Cleans restrooms and replenishes restroom supplies;
    • Sweeps and dusts stairways and damp mops as needed;
    • Dusts and cleans meeting rooms;
    • Performs routine grounds keeping and maintenance, including but not limited to mowing, weed-eating, snow removal and garbage pick-up;
    • Informs supervisor of needed supplies;
    • Performs routine repairs and maintenance on electrical and plumbing systems;
    • Performs routine carpentry and painting tasks;
    • Replaces light bulbs and/or ballast;
    • Checks work areas for security and energy loss;
    • Secures buildings and facilities at end of shift;
    • Performs routine equipment maintenance;
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, vendors, and citizens.

    Physical Demands

    Duties are performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where hazards and discomforts are generally controlled and modifiable. Position performs work in all types of weather in the presence of chemicals, fertilizers and dust. This position must be able to stand, twist, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally and 100 pounds on a brief and unpredictable basis. Position requires frequent contact with fellow employees and citizens.
