Provides custodial services to all areas of the University. Receives work direction from the supervisor, assistant manager, manager, associate director, and director of Custodial Services. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains structures, fixtures and furnishings in assigned University buildings including building interiors and exteriors.
Major Duties
- Cleans and maintains floors and floor coverings
- Applies sealers, floor finishes and protectants
- Collects and disposes of waste and recycling
- Dusts and wipes horizontal, vertical and high surfaces
- Changes light bulbs- fluorescent, LED, incandescent
- Washes windows- interior and exterior
- Replaces shower curtains
- Fills paper and hand care product dispensers
- Provides daily maid service of guest areas and rooms
- Arranges furniture and equipment
- Maintains proper level of supplies
- Maintains closets and equipment in a neat, clean and orderly manner and condition
- Reports all incidents and accidents
- Submits supply requests
- Submits work orders and service requests
- Moves supplies and equipment
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Read, comprehend and comply with oral/written instructions and safety regulations governing the performance of job duties.
- Sufficient writing ability.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job and use the tools of the trade.
- Ability to complete a physical examination administered by the employer's designated physician.
Desired Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license.

- This is a first (1st) shift position. The regular work hours for this position are 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. The regular work days are Monday through Friday, with Saturday and Sunday off.
Physical requirements and working conditions
- Tolerate exposure to the full range of weather conditions- heat, cold, rain, snow, wind.
- Tolerate exposure to fumes from cleaning chemicals, finishes, sealers and other compounds as well as dust, dirt, and mildew.
- Tolerate and be comfortable with cleaning up of biohazards.
