Job Description

TITLE: Middle School Food Service Worker – Salad Bar/Nachos Line

REPORTS TO : Director of Food Service

JOB GOALS:

Assist in daily preparation and service of fresh ingredients for the salad bar and Nacho line, ensuring proper portioning, food safety, and cleanliness. Provide friendly, efficient service to students and staff during meal periods while maintaining a well-stocked and organized serving station.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
2. Prior food service experience within a school setting is preferred.
3. Must have knowledge of food ingredients, recipe conversion and portion control.
4. Ability to run a register as a back up when needed with accuracy and efficiency.
5. General knowledge and ability to utilize a computer and google suite.
6. Excellent customer service skills required.
7. Ability and passion to interact positively with children and other staff.
8. Available for at least four and one half hours (7 hours) every school day.
9. Must have reliable transportation to work.
10. Must be able to lift up to and including 40 pounds.
11. Must be able to perform repetitive work duties.
12. Must be able to stand for the entire scheduled shift.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Set up the serving area in a timely manner for lunch.
2. Cook lunch items and prepare cold items needed following the menu. Sort any leftovers from the previous day; wrap, freeze and label items as needed.
3. Clean kitchen areas after completion of lunch being served.
4. Calibrate thermometers and take food temperatures as needed.
5. Prepare and cook lunch food items according to schedule.
6. Order produce, food items, and needed supplies for this area.
7. Assist with dishwashing as needed.
8. Close the serving area and assist in the dish area at the end of lunch duty.
9. Stock stations within the cafeteria area as needed.
10. Check to make sure all signs are displayed for daily use.
11. Wipe tables between lunch and at end of lunch
12. Wash hands and follow all sanitation and safety practices set forth by the Allegheny County Health Department.
13. Complete item counts to ensure production records can be kept accurately.
14. Perform any and all duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

Approximately 5 hours per day (Monday-Friday 8:45 AM–1:45 PM) / 5 days a week during the school year.

Rate is $14.09 per hour for the probationary period of 45 working days; followed by the regular rate of $17.61 per hour after successful completion of the probationary period

EVALUATION: The Food Service Director will evaluate performance of this job.
