The SCSEP helps low-income, unemployed individuals older than 54 find work by matching them with community service and work-based training opportunities at local nonprofits and public agencies. This program provides eligible seniors with opportunities to increase skills and build self-confidence, while earning a modest income.

This program provides:

- Part-time work for an average of 20 hours a week

- Community service and work-based training

- Help finding employment opportunities outside of the program

- Supportive services and skills training based on employment interests and goals

Job seekers are paid the highest of federal, state or local minimum wage and are compensated by SCSEP directly. The job seekers are placed in a wide variety of community service activities at non-profit and public facilities like day care centers, senior centers, schools and hospitals.

Participants should contact their local AARP Foundation SCSEP office to see if they qualify.

Requirements:

- Must have following documents:

Original social security card

Texas ID or driver's license for proof of identification and address. If you do not have an ID may bring bill to show proof of address

Duties:

- Service, clean, or supply restrooms.

- Gather and empty trash.

- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
