Job Summary
The Third Floor is seeking a friendly, skilled, and enthusiastic Barista to join our front-of-house team. As a Barista, you will prepare high-quality coffee and tea beverages, provide attentive customer service, and maintain a clean, organized bar area. Youll work collaboratively with the hospitality and kitchen teams to support a smooth and welcoming guest experience. A strong attention to detail and genuine interest in coffee are essential to this role.
Essential Functions include but may not be limited to
- Greet customers as they enter
- Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
- Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
- Prepare beverages following recipes
- Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
- Assist the team in preparing beverages for the dining room
- Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
- Keep the bar area clean
- Maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
- Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Comply with health and safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
Qualifications
- Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
- Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Basic math skills
- Ability to gauge customers preferences
- Excellent communication skills
Prerequisites for Employment
- California Food Handler's Card
Work Environment
This job mainly operates on the floor during restaurant hours.

The Barista must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and be able to work in a sitting position for long periods of time.
