Visit Job summary:
Under immediate direction, reads meters, performs water taps and related water maintenance distribution and service work including inspection and maintenance of meters, works with contractors to repair water systems and locate service lines and mains.
Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other:
High school education or G.E.D. and four to six months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in water system maintenance or related. State of Iowa DNR Grade I Water Distribution Certificate preferred or required within 3 years of hire. Satisfactory driving record. Valid State of Iowa commercial drivers license instruction permit upon first day in position. Valid State of Iowa Class B commercial drivers license with air brake and tank endorsements within 6 months of hire. Meet federal drug testing requirements. Requires a pre-employment drug screen. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass criminal background check. Must live within 25 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other:
High school education or G.E.D. and seven to twelve months of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid State of Iowa Class A commercial drivers license with air brake and tank endorsements.
