Guest Services Representative

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is a multi-disciplinary arts center located in Brooklyn, New York. For more than 150 years, BAM has been the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas—engaging both global and local communities. With world-renowned programming in theater, dance, music, opera, film, and much more, BAM showcases the work of emerging artists and innovative modern masters.

BAM is seeking four PT Guest Service Representatives to provide excellent customer service and ticket fulfillment support to members and the public. These ideal candidates will provide the public with complete and accurate information regarding BAM’s performances, events and services, sell tickets to live performances, assist customers with exchanges and other special requests. and update and maintain BAM’s customer records and database.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Answer inbound calls in a timely and friendly manner
• Process tickets orders, exchanges and donations for live events’
• Make outbound calls to customers regarding changes to their order or production updates, as needed
• Respond to customer inquiries and requests via email
• Provide general information regarding events, and directions to BAM venues
• Maintaining customer contact records
• Respond to customer questions and complaints: providing ticketing policies, facility information, trouble-shooting sales issues
• Route phone and email inquiries to other departments
• Assist with group sales
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

• At least 1 year of previous experience in one or more of the following areas: ticketing, phone sales, customer service and/or performing arts
• Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Google Suite
• The ability to collaborate and work independently
• Ability to multitask
• Experience with Tessitura system preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be detail and task oriented
• Must be able to work weekends and occasional evenings
• Self-motivated
• Work remotely and in person

Compensation: The pay rate for this position is $20.50 per hour. The role is represented by Local 2110 and will be paid in accordance with the BAM/UAW Local 2110 Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is part-time, non-exempt, and eligible for Sick and Safe Time and Paid Hours off.

Working conditions:

Category 1: Administrative Work

• Part time - hybrid
• 20-30 hrs. weekly during the fall and spring season
• Daily shifts, noon to 6/7:30pm
• Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays
• Three weeks paid training, in person and virtual
• Work remotely and in person
• Must be able to work weekends and occasional evenings
