Part-Time Custodian - Kernodle Senior Center

Are you someone who enjoys tackling a variety of tasks and keeping things in top shape? If so, the City of Burlington is hiring a Part Time Morning Custodian at the Kernodle Senior Center. About us: The John Robert Kernodle Senior Center offers an array of activities for adults ages 55 and over. What you will do: The position is responsible for making sure the facilities are clean and safe in appearance. Work includes both indoor and outdoor spaces. The employee may be called upon to help assist the maintenance team with light maintenance duties at the facility. The general hours are Monday-Friday from 10:00am 2:00pm

• Daily cleaning and stocking of restroom facilities

• Daily sweeping of floors

• Wiping down areas of facility to remove dust and debris.

• Table and chair set up and take down

• Operating floor buffer and floor scrubber machine

• Picking up loose trash inside and outside the facility

• Blowing or sweeping outdoor sidewalks

• Operating golf cart or utility vehicle to service outdoor trash receptacles

• Organizing and inventorying supplies as needed

• Other park maintenance/custodial duties as assigned

• Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

• Need to have good communication skills

• Needs to have problem solving skills

• Must be comfortable cleaning public bathrooms and emptying trash bags

• Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Work in this class is described as medium and frequently requires physical exertion to complete tasks and move objects.
• Work typically involves the ability to physically perform the basic life operational balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, grasping, and repetitive motions.
• This employee must have the visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.
• An employee is subject to hazards, including a variety of moving mechanical equipment, electrical current, and exposure to fumes, odors, dust, chemicals, and noise.
• The employee is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
