ESS Maintenance Mechanic I Job Summary of the position: This position is responsible for the effective and efficient preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment, tooling, and facility infrastructure essential to the Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) operation. The position supports various activities and projects to ensure the goals, objectives and strategic initiatives of the Marotta organization are achieved. In addition, effective interaction with a broad spectrum of people both internal and external to the organization is essential to successfully support operations. Essential job functions and responsibilities:
  • Inspect test equipment and associated infrastructure to detect malfunctions, damage, and adverse conditions and document accordingly for repair/resolution.
  • Perform preventative maintenance actions to monitor/prolong the life of environmental test equipment including, but not limited to, thermal chambers and electrodynamic shakers.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting to assess root cause of failure on environmental test equipment that is malfunctioning.
  • Carry out routine visual inspections of test equipment and electrical harnessing to verify that it is free of FOD and damage. Work with relevant functional groups within Marotta to track and repair damaged equipment.
  • Perform basic Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) on facility system(s) and support equipment to monitor performance over time.
  • Manipulate high pressure (up to 6,000psi) infrastructure and equipment as needed to support the test operation.
  • Perform minor repairs on damaged environmental test fixturing including deburring, drilling, tapping, and surface finishing.
  • Support thermal screening including loading and unloading of test hardware, thermal chamber operation, and test data collection.
  • Familiar with the use of volt & multi-meters, hydrometers, flowmeters, amp probes, thermal data loggers, drills/hammer drills, tube bending equipment, and misc. hand-tools such as wrenches, ratchets, drivers and cutters. Position will mandate/provide assistance/training in use of specialized tooling.
  • Perform basic assembly and relocation of office & production furniture/equipment, reconfigure building areas.
  • Assist and provide guidance and support to Vendors and Contractors (as reqd).
  • Effectively plan and coordinate actionable timelines facilitate repairs and project completion.
  • Adjust work assignments/priorities dynamically based on information from multiple management groups and production schedules.
  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as reqd).
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive, cooperative and safe work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals.
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values, goals and objectives.
  • Practice consistent communication and provide timely correspondence with management to document findings/actionables and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for related duties, special projects and miscellaneous assignments.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required:
  • High School/Trade Diploma or GED
  • 0-1 years experience of mechanical hands-on repair or related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Familiarity interpreting technical data requirements, specifications, schematics, etc.
  • Self-motivated with ability to effectively interface with employees of varying skill levels and expertise
  • Possess the visual acuity required for detailed inspection and repair activities
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and effective verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization
  • Work effectively in both an independent and team-based environment
  • Computer literate/PC experience, with MS Office software
  • Possess good organizational skills, attentiveness to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to perform well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/test lab environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners/copier machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as reqd).
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • Some travel may be required for this position (5-10%)
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 10 hours, Monday through Thursday. Overtime, off-hours and weekend work are required, as job duties and schedules demand
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand at length (7-8 hours, daily), walk consistently, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move about the facility.
  • This position requires the ability to skillfully use measuring instruments, hand, and power tools
  • The employee may be required to lift, push, pull and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds
This position is at our Parsippany, NJ location. Pay Range: $28 - $35/hour Many of our contracts require proof that you are a U.S. citizen and/or that an export license has been obtained for employees who are citizens of certain countries.
