The Inn offers cozy accommodations featuring a mix of well-appointed guestrooms and suites. The PlumpJack Cafe is renowned in North Lake Tahoe for its seasonal menu and award-winning wine list. The PlumpJack Café Bar is a popular Apres destination featuring creative cocktails, craft beers and an extensive by-the-glass wine list.

Purpose of the role:

To serve food and beverages, as ordered, at banquet functions and to ensure guest satisfaction during all aspects of the function or meeting.

Responsibilities:

  • To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely manner, deferring to the Banquet Manager, Banquet Captain or Sales Manager when necessary, to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • To extend a courteous, friendly, and professional greeting to guests as they arrive, and to thank them as they depart.
  • To provide prompt, efficient, and gracious customer service to banquet functions guests, including serving cocktails during prescribed reception hours; handling cash bar transactions; serving all food and beverages during functions; and assisting to bus tables, as serving requires.
  • To make the Banquet Captain aware of all guest comments and complaints.
  • To ensure, as directed, with room set-up and breakdown, including setting and decorating tables; folding napkins; preparing condiments; filling salt, pepper, and sugar containers; and breaking down and storing tables and chairs.
  • To be completely familiar with prospectus sheet and menu for each banquet function, prior to service.
  • To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash and credit transactions.
  • To satisfactorily perform all side duties as directed.
  • To maintain the proper care and cleanliness of tableware and serving equipment, handling both to minimize breakage.
  • To leave the storage areas clean, organized and secured at all times.
  • To represent and market the PJI in a positive and professional manner as requested and continually promote internally and externally by attending special events when requested and building relationships both on and off property.
  • To promote and comply with all policies and procedures of The PlumpJack Group.
  • To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions and avoid injury to self and others.
  • To always maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas and equipment.
  • To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
  • To perform other tasks, including cross-training, as directed.
  • To adhere to the attendance and punctuality policy as outlined in the PlumpJack Employee Handbook. To report to work as scheduled and be prepared to start work.
  • To remain at work for the entire work shift, except for meal and rest periods or when required to leave on authorized PlumpJack business.

Candidate requirements:

  • Minimum 1-year experience in a similar role and display basic knowledge of foods and beverages, service standards and procedures.
  • English fluency required.
  • Must have current Food Handler Certificate and Responsible Beverage Service Certificate that reviews all California liquor laws.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and efficient.
  • Diplomatic and calm with strong verbal communication skills.
  • Courteous, friendly, and professional manner.
  • Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively with little supervision. Trustworthy and reliable.

Working Conditions:

Constantly moving between in and outdoor environment, throughout shift. Works primarily indoors, in clean, well-lighted banquet and meeting rooms, some of which are temperature-controlled. Exposed to weather conditions while serving and supervising outdoor functions, and enroute to work areas. Makes frequent trips to kitchen, where air may be moist, warm and odorous cooking foods. Kitchen floor is uneven, and may be slippery from grease and moisture. Works on all surfaces, including grass, concrete and tile. Extensive facility. Work areas may be noisy and congested, depending upon size and location of function. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

Physical Demands:

Stands/walks moderate distances throughout shift. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, lift and grasp to perform routine tasks. Ability to move objects weighing up to 40lbs over moderate distances. Frequent use of stairs, daily.

Terms:

On Call, Non-Exempt

Non-exempt employees are subject to the wage and hour laws and entitled to overtime pay. All overtime work by a non-exempt employee must be approved in advance by the employee’s supervisor or the General Manager. Non-exempt employees who work overtime without prior approval are subject to disciplinary action, including termination.

At Will Employment:

The relationship between CNCML LP and PlumpJack Management Group, LLC and the employee is for an unspecified term and is considered “at will”. This means that the terms and conditions of employment may be changed, with or without cause and with or without notice, including, but not limited to termination, demotion, promotion, transfer, compensation, benefits, duties, and location of work. No one other than the Managing Member CNCML LP and PlumpJack Management Group, LLC has the authority to make any verbal or written agreement contrary to this provision and any such agreement must be put in writing and signed by the Managing Member of CNCML LP and PlumpJack Management Group, LLC before it is effective.
