JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Performs maintenance, diagnosis and repair of equipment and electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems and physical structures within assigned facilities. Monitors and evaluates facility systems to facilitate, repair and maintain optimum performance. Assumes Lead/Coordinator responsibilities in all facility related concerns. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Plant engineering oversees maintaining a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors through the installation, preventative maintenance and repair of building and grounds infrastructure and equipment. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent required. Post high school vocational/specialized training and/or Associate#s Degree preferred. Four (4) years experience in the electrical/mechanical field of healthcare or industrial engineering required. Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred. Successful completion of Drivers Privileges for SHS Vehicles application process required. Electrical LME, Limited Energy, CFC Handling, Stationary Engineer, and/or Oregon Boiler/Pressure Vessel Class 3 licensure preferred. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Knowledge of and ability to comply with federal, state, local rules and standards. Ability to safely and effectively use electrical and mechanical shop tools and test equipment. #Knowledge of methods and techniques used in electrical, mechanical and building maintenance. Ability to use a wide variety of test equipment and hand / power tools including cable testing equipment. Knowledge and skills in one or more of the following trades: mechanical, welding, pneumatics, refrigeration, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing or steam fitting. Ability to read and understand blue prints and facility schematics and utilize computer interfacing concepts including communications and components. Knowledge and ability to trouble shoot and repair various physical plant systems and equipment. Ability to work with outside contractor to coordinate systems shutdowns and equipment repairs or services. Ability to perform staff in-services education on various systems and equipment related to the physical plant.
