About the Role:

The Lead Janitor at Bay City educational site, plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position involves overseeing daily janitorial operations, ensuring that all cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. The Lead Janitor will coordinate with school administration and janitorial staff to manage schedules, supplies, and maintenance needs. This role requires proactive problem-solving to address any facility issues promptly and to support a healthy learning environment. Ultimately, the Lead Janitor ensures that the school facilities reflect the community's commitment to excellence and care.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 years of experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
  • Basic supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Ability to operate standard cleaning equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a school environment or consumer support services industry.
  • Certification in custodial management or related training.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to janitorial work.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience with inventory management and ordering supplies.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead the janitorial team to ensure all cleaning duties are performed thoroughly and on schedule.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitation.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary to maintain adequate stock.
  • Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance or safety issues and coordinate with appropriate personnel for repairs.
  • Train new janitorial staff on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and use of equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies related to facility cleanliness.
  • Communicate effectively with school administration regarding janitorial needs, challenges, and progress.
