General Summary

Applicants must qualify for work-study funds from Financial Aid.

Starting rate for new hires is $16.00 per hour.

Up to 20 hours per week across all student positions.

SELECTION PROCESS

Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application package submitted by candidate. Completed application package includes

  • Students may copy their class schedule from eWolf and paste into a Word document. Then save it to your desktop in order to upload to the application in the "Attachments" step.

  • You can also attach a cover letter and/or resume, but it is not required.

Primary Duties

The Associate will provide support in three main areas of the business for Sinister Bakers Cafe

As a Bakery Assistant, the Associate will:

? weigh and measure ingredients for production

? assist in baking products, and package products for sale

? maintain an organized kitchen and food preparation area

As a Barista, the Associate will:

? interact with customers using superior communication skills

? master the Point of Sale System to receive orders and payments from customers and make correct change

? prepare items in the order including creating craft coffee drinks

? ensure customer happiness. (not happiness in life, but with Sinister Bakers.)

Lastly, the Associate will provide help with Porter duties. This might include:

? removing trash and recyclables

? ensuring the equipment and utensils are clean and sanitized

? understand and prove that cleanliness and sanitation is highly important for the success of the individual and the Cafe as a whole.

Required Competencies

The Cafe is looking for someone who has:

? a positive attitude

? is coachable

? enjoys the company of other human beings

? effectively listens and communicates well

Existing soft skills are highly important. The technical requirements can be taught to someone who is eager to learn. The Associate needs to be:

? a good communicator

? alert, attentive, and curious

? possess a friendly and cheerful attitude

? unafraid of brains in formaldehyde filled jars.

Personal hygiene and presentation are important aspects in customer service, and the Cafe would expect appropriate attire, language, and attitude. Having basic math abilities would be helpful, as would an existing knowledge of coffee and pastries.

Qualifications

  • Must be a FRCC student enrolled in at least 6 credits for the current semester
  • Applicants must qualify for work-study funds from Financial Aid.
  • Prior experience as a Baker, Barista, or Porter is not necessary. The right individual can and will be taught these skills.
  • As indicated by the company name and some of our product names, we do not take ourselves too seriously. We do, however, take the quality of our products and highly satisfied customers very seriously. We hold ourselves to very high standards. We would expect the same from an Associate.
