The Town of Longmeadow, MA DPW is seeking qualified applicants for the FT positions of Maintenance Custodian. Position is responsible for performing routine work in the maintenance of the Town buildings and grounds. Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining the facilities and grounds and performing a variety of minor repairs. Successful candidate must have: Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Knowledge of materials, methods, and current practices essential to the maintenance of buildings. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Ability to multi-task. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials and the general public and to respond in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize and perform tasks in a timely manner with little or no supervision. Ability to communicate effectively in standard English. Strong communication skills, problem solving skills and customer service skills. Organizational and planning skills. Carpentry, plumbing, heating, and electrical repair skills. High School diploma or equivalent, and 1 to 3 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Must have and obtain valid driver's license. Must be able to pass a CORI check. Required to be on call as needed to respond to emergencies Salary $20.77- $22.10 per hour DOE/DOQ; Excellent benefits .
