Detailed OverviewReporting to the Manager, Food & Nutrition or designate, performs a variety of duties within the food service operation such as setting up trays, portioning meals and preparing items such as tea, coffee, toast and washing dishes and utensils; delivers and picks up meal trays from the patient''s room.
Responsibilities
- Assembles and sets ups meal trays with items according to information printed on patient's meal ticket; loads and unloads meal wagons; delivers and picks up meal trays from the patient''s room.
- Makes beverages and food items such as tea, coffee, and toast; assembles items such as sandwiches and salads.
- Washes, peels and stores vegetables and fruit.
- Cleans soiled dishes and utensils; stores cleaned dishes, trays and utensils in the appropriate areas.
- Performs cleaning duties such as sweeping and damp mopping floors, cleaning counter tops, sinks, machines and equipment and spot washing walls; removes garbage as required.
- Collects stores requisitions from various areas and distributes supplies to the appropriate areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Successful completion of a recognized Food Safe Certificate.
Skills and Abilities- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal effectively with others.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
