Position Summary

Responsible for the setting up of the function rooms, as well as serving the meal coursed as needed.

Clears all tables after each function, and stores equipment in the proper place. Responsible for setting up coffee breaks and bars as needed. Must be able to handle all guest requests.

All while promoting and exhibiting World Class Guest Service to all the Isleta Resort and Casino employees and guests.

  • Checks banquet stations before, during and after shift for set-up and cleanliness
  • Greets quests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Serves plated meals; assists guests in at a buffet as needed. Offers options for appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts as indicated in the banquet event order
  • Replenishes beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction
  • Clears tables of all soiled wares and linen, maintain a clean and organized table top for all guests.
  • Stocks the buffet tables with food, replenishing as needed to always maintain an attractive and abundant appearance for all banquet guests.
  • Abides by all State, and Federal and Liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
  • Follows hotel procedures before, during and after functions are over
  • Performs any general cleaning tasks as assigned by banquet supervisor/manager to adhere to health standards
  • Performs other duties as requested, such as handling special quest requests, taking room service orders, answering the phones, etc.
  • Cash handling experience is required; accepts guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to maintain a calm and positive demeanor in a Sometimes-stressful work environment
  • May only work events and functions on an on-call basis
  • Ability to present a professional, conservative, and polished image in both behavior and dress.
  • Train other team members in all aspects of service.
  • Ability to work as a server in other venues by request.

Education and Experience

  • Three (3) years in Banquet and Conference Service background preferred.
  • High School Diploma and/or General Educational Degree (GED) equivalent, preferred.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certification

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain Non-Key Gaming License issued through POIGRA.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background investigation.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule. Must be willing to work any days/hours as needed or required to meet business needs.
  • Must maintain all Isleta Resort and Casino-wide educational and certification requirements.
  • New Mexico State Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification, required.
  • Must acquire POIGRA Alcohol Server License, required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to take direction and feedback well.
  • Must be able to accurately and successfully perform several tasks and meet deadlines under high levels of stress and with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to communicate, in writing and verbally, in English and in an effective, informative, and professional manner and be able to convey denials and/or defuse hostile guest situations with ease and tact.
  • Must possess a highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills including high integrity and respect for individuals.
  • Must possess and exhibit a positive attitude towards internal and external guests at all times.
  • Must possess a strong commitment to the organizational goals and objectives while showing the utmost discretion and loyalty to the organization when dealing with confidential information and data.
  • POS and Cash Handling Skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work varied shifts and/or irregular hours (i.e. weekends, holidays, nights); stand for prolongs periods of time.
  • Smoke filled environment
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, push, pull, and maneuver in small confided areas.
  • Must be able to climb up and down ladders.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and place 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to push 150 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
