  • &nbsp&nbsp The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is seeking applicants for a full-time custodian, 11am-7:30pm. The position is 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 12 months/year, Monday through Friday. Starting rate: $22.80/Regular - $23.00 after probation.

    Qualifications:
    • Must demonstrate aptitude and physical ability for successful fulfillment assigned performance responsibilities (see page 2)
    • Must be of good moral character and an effective communicator
    • Must have 2 or more years of custodial experience using floor scrubbers, wet/dry pick up machines, carpet shampoo, and basic bathroom and area cleaning
    • Must be physically able to shovel, plow and/or salt walks, play areas and steps as appropriate
    • Duties will include grass cutting using large and small tractors, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive manner
    • Will be required to move supplies, furniture or equipment within the buildings as necessary for various activities and as directed by the building principal/supervisor according to standard operating procedures
    • Responsibilities to include minor repairs for bathroom hardware, ceiling tile, furniture, univents and changing of fluorescent lights daily
    • Must be able to climb a ladder and/or scaffold up to 30 feet in height, using safety guidelines and procedures
    • Must possess a valid Pennsylvania drivers license
    • Certification of good health signed by licensed physician including TB test

    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat, clean, and safe at all times.
    2. Cleans heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season, and to insure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
    3. Shovels, plows and/or salts walks, play areas and steps as appropriate.
    4. Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open, and that all panic bolts and exit signs are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
    5. Lowers the United States flag at or after 3:00 p.m.
    6. Cleans rooms daily according to standard operating procedures.
    7. Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it, according to standard operating procedures.
    8. Cleans and disinfects bathroom floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily, according to standard operating procedures.
    9. Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least once a year, and more frequently if necessary.
    10. Keeps the grounds free from rubbish and safe.
    11. Performs grass cutting as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
    12. Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition, and in a good state of preservation.
    13. Cleans all chalkboards daily.
    14. Reports major repairs and safety concerns needed promptly to the principal/supervisor.
    15. Reports immediately to the principal/supervisor any damage to school property.
    16. Remains on the school premises during assigned work hours, and during non-school hours, when the use of the building has been authorized, and his/her attendance is required by the principal/supervisor.
    17. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each work shift, and for determining, before leaving, that doors and windows are secured, and lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off, according to standard operating procedures.
    18. Moves supplies, furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities, and as directed by the principal/supervisor according to standard operating procedures.
    19. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
    20. Conducts periodic inspections according to standard operating procedures.
    21. Assists organizations using school facilities.
    22. Conducts an inspection of roof drains according to standard operating procedures.
    23. Handles related equipment according to standard operating procedures.
    24. Wears and maintains assigned uniform, when issued.
    25. Custodians are to follow all safety procedures; including the wearing of safety glasses, gloves, work boots, etc., when warranted.
    26. Inspects and initials fire extinguishers monthly. Replaces as needed.
    27. Responsible for minor repairs to include lights, ceiling tiles, etc. (daily)
    28. Performs any other work assigned.
