Position: Custodian
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous custodial or janitorial experiance preferred, especially in a school or similar enviroment. Manages time so that scheduled work and duties are completed daily. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment. This job may require physical such as lifting (up to 39 pounds), bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods. This posiiton requires reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented employee with good communication skills and ablility to work independently or as part of a team. Understanding of safety procedures and regulations are required.
Reports to: Maintenence Supervisor and/or Building Principal.
Job Goal: The School Custodian is responsible for maintaing the cleaniness, safety, and general upkeep of the school building and grounds. This role ensures clean, hygienic, and safe enviroment for students, staff, and visitors by performing cleaning tasks, minor maintenence, and ahearing to health and safety standards.
Performance Responsibility:
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, drinking fountains, restrooms, cafeterias, gym, and offices.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors regularly.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
- Maintain cleanliness of windows, walls, and other surfaces.
- Perform minor repairs and report major maintanence issues to the facilities manager.
- Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
- Set up and arrange furniture and equipment for school events or meetings as needed.
- Monitor and maintain security of the building, including locking/unlocking doors and windows.
- Follow school safety protocals, including proper handlilng of hazardous materials and equipment in accordance with established procedures and protocals.
- Assist with snow removal, lawn care, and other outdoor maintence as necessary.
- Responds promptly to emergency cleaning request or spills.
- Maintian accurate logs of cleaning scheduls and maintence activities.
- Comply with all health safety, and sanitiation regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Follow all District policies and procedures.
- Adaptability with schedule to meet the school needs.
- Perform other duties as required and/or directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Building Principal.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily indoors but may include outdoor tasks in a varietiy of working conditions.
- May require working before or after school hours, evenings, or weekends.
Terms Of Employment: Compensation and benefits in accordance with Bartlett School District Non-Contracted Personnel Policy.
Work Year: Full-time, year round position.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Bartlett School District Non-Contracted Personnel Policy provisions on evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
